Artist of the Day

ARWEN EDSALL

MEDIA: MIXED MEDIA

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

My paintings investigate themes of emergence, interconnection, and ecological transformation, drawing inspiration from marine environments, cellular structures, and biological growth patterns. Working primarily in mixed media, I create immersive abstract compositions that explore the movement and complexity of natural systems.

Through layered abstraction, repetition, and intuitive mark-making, I build compositions that evoke the underlying processes of growth, adaptation, and change rather than depicting nature literally. My work invites viewers to look beyond recognizable forms and engage with the patterns, relationships, and structures that connect living systems across multiple scales.

Influenced by my background in environmental studies and ocean conservation, I am interested in revealing the complexity and resilience of the natural world while encouraging a sense of curiosity, wonder, and connection.
