ABOUT FUSION TRIO
It was kismet from the moment Angie, Lina and Juan met at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The three Drs. were instantly drawn to each other, and began to discuss the possibility of forming a trio. As they began to perform together, they needed a name.
"We liked the idea of characterizing our personal and musical backgrounds and our taste in music as a 'fusion.' All three of us are new to the state. and came to Oregon from the South. Juan and Lina recently finished doctorates at the University of Alabama, while Angie came to Oregon from Mississippi, after many years teaching college music at Mississippi College. We even discovered colleagues in common from Alabama and Mississippi. In addition to having similar musical backgrounds, we found we enjoyed learning and performing music from different genres and styles."

The combination of violin, cello, and piano has a long-standing musical history from the early days of each of the instruments. Composers have provided a wealth of repertoire for the “piano trio” with the greatest number of pieces coming from the Classical period of music history, with Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and their lesser-known contemporaries. Music for this collection of instruments has been written and performed through the Romantic period, and the modern period, always adapting to the current styles.
